Youth Sports Programs

Little LeagueThe City of Florence Little League is a city-run program that utilizes Maple Park, McLeod Park, Northside Park, and the Florence Sports Complex. This league is offered from ages 7 to 16 and has a birthday cut-off on August 31st of 2027.

The City of Florence Recreation Department hosts the newly created Florence Little League Program. Participation in this league will be based on your residency in Florence County. The league is provided for participants ranging from the age of 7 to 16. Playing age is determined by the participant’s age as of August 31st of 2027. The fee to participate is $45 per resident participant, $55 for non-residents. Registration is conducted online, or by going to the Recreation Department’s administrative offices located at the Barnes Street Activity Center.


Registration for Fall Baseball will run from August 1st to September 4th

Evaluations will take place the week of September 8th at the Florence Sports Complex located at 1200 Jennie O'Bryan Ave.

The City of Florence Recreation Department, in association with the Florence Youth Basketball League, hosts a youth basketball program for kids in the Florence area. With over 400 youth participating, the league is one of the most popular activities offered in the city area.

Youth ages 5 to 17 years of age can participate. All ages are determined by their age as of September 1st of the registration year

The City of Florence offers a recreational-based Cheer Program during the fall, and is for kids ages 5 to 12. During the season, the cheerleaders will cheer during the Florence Football League games. Each cheerleader will be taught basic fundamentals, techniques, and teamwork. Registration for the cheer program will begin on July 1st, and the cost is $50 for Florence residents and $60 for non-residents. Registration is conducted online or by going to the Athletics and Sports Tourism Department’s administrative offices located at the Barnes Street Activity Center.

The City of Florence Athletics and Sports Tourism Department, in association with the Florence Junior Football League, hosts a youth football program for kids in the Florence area. Over 600 youth sign up each year to participate in this popular program.

The league is composed of participants ranging from the age of 5 to 12 years of age. Playing age is determined by the participant’s age as of September 1st. The fee to participate is $60 per participant for Florence residents and $70 for non-residents. Registration is conducted online or by going to the Athletics and Sports Tourism Department’s administrative offices located at the Barnes Street Activity Center, and registration begins July 1st.

2026 Football Season

Registration for the 2026 Football Season will begin on July 1, 2026. 

Youth ages 5 to 12 years of age can participate. All ages are determined by their age as of Sept. 1, 2026. Ages 5 and 6 play flag football. Ages 7 and up play tackle football.

Registration Ends August 6, 2026


Evaluations will take place on August 8, 2026. Please see the schedule below. 
The location will be the Freedom Florence Sports complex.

The City of Florence gymnastics program is packed with high energy and octane. Both competition and skills development are a focus at this facility. Participants will learn not only sound techniques but they will also learn life-skills that will help them develop as teens, young adults and adults.

FACILITY DETAILS

The center is a 12,000 square foot air-conditioned building with many different types of gymnastics features, such as a 20×20 loose-foam training pit, a 8×30 bar training pit, a 42×42 spring tumbling floor, multiple sets of uneven bars, balance beams, vaulting tables, a 25 foot tumble track, parallel bars, rings, and several additional learning aids. There is a separate preschool room outfitted with small-scale equipment adapted to better accommodate younger children. A large lobby with vending machines, viewing windows, and tables are available for all parents and guests.

The City of Florence Parks, Recreation and Sports Tourism Department, in association with the Florence Soccer Association, hosts a youth soccer program for the Florence community. There are two seasons each year which offer league play – fall and spring.

The spring league is provided for youth ranging from the age of 5 to 12 years of age. All ages are determined as of September 1, 2026.  The fee is $55 per participant for Florence residents and $65 for non-residents. Registration is conducted online or by going to the department’s administrative offices at the 513 Barnes Street.

Ages that were offered this season were - 6u (ages 5, 6), 8u (ages 7, 8), 10u (ages 9, 10), 12u (ages 11, 12), and 15u (ages 13, 14, 15). 

A birth certificate must be brought by the City of Florence Recreation Department's administrative offices at 513 Barnes Street if the participant has never participated with a City of Florence program before.

Games will be played at the Soccer Complex and practices will be held at ESAB.

The league is provided for youth ranging from the age of 4 to 16 years of age. All ages are determined as of December 31st, 2026. League participation is dependent upon the participant’s location of residence. The fee is $45 per participant for residents and $55 for non-residents. 

Registration for Fall Softball will run from August 1st to August 31st

Summer Camp

The Florence Track Club is made up of volunteer coaches, parents, and youth athletes ages 6 to 18 who participate in USATF sanctioned Jr. Olympic Track & Field and Cross Country events. Playing age is the participant’s age on December 31, 2026. Exception is made if the participant will turn 19 after the USATF National Meet. The program is in association with the City of Florence Parks and Recreation Department.

Participants compete in club-sponsored events around the state of South Carolina. The fee to participate is $55, with an additional $10 fee for non-residents. Registration is conducted online, or by going to the Recreation Department’s administrative offices located at the Barnes Street Activity Center.

The City of Florence Athletics and Sports Tourism Department offers a fall volleyball league for girls ages 7-17 and boys ages 10-14 based on age as of September 1st. The league is an instructional based league that focuses on teaching the fundamentals of volleyball. The cost of the league is $45 and all practices and games are played at the Pearl Moore Basketball Center located at 500 Barnes Street. Registration is conducted online, or by going to the Athletics and Sports Tourism Department’s administrative offices located at the Barnes Street Activity Center.
