PRESS RELEASE: City Officials Issue Strong Reminder Regarding Juvenile Curfew within City Limits of Florence FLORENCE, SC – Florence Police Department is currently investigating a shooting incident which occurred in the 100 block of W Evans St. early morning on October 18, 2025. For further details, please reference the press release from the Florence Police Department from early this morning. The City of Florence is issuing a strong reminder to parents, guardians, and youth that the juvenile curfew (Sec. 14-21 City of Florence Code) remains in full effect and will be actively enforced. This Ordinance prohibits all individuals “16 years of age or younger to loiter, wander, stroll or play in or upon the public streets, highways, roads, alleys, parks, playgrounds, or other public grounds, public places, vacant lots or any place unsupervised by an adult having the lawful authority to be at such places, between the hours of 12:00 midnight and 6:00am on the following day”. The City of Florence has begun work on the Pennsylvania Street stormwater improvements. With the help of drone technology, the contractor completing the improvements has been able to pinpoint blockages and remove sediment, mud, and other debris to increase system capacity and reduce flooding. Plans also include replacing and upsizing existing pipes to further improve capacity. The City of Florence remains committed to improving our infrastructure and enhancing community resilience.
